Paul, once known primarily as a fashion designer, entered politics in 2019 and quickly established herself as a vocal BJP campaigner. Over time, she became one of the party’s strongest women leaders in Bengal. Her appointment to the cabinet under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is being seen as both symbolic and strategic.
The BJP leadership appears keen to project a younger and more modern political image through leaders like Paul. She represents urban Bengal, professional women and first-generation politicians who entered public life outside traditional political dynasties.
At the same time, the cabinet balances youthful faces with experienced organisational leaders like Dilip Ghosh. Ghosh’s long association with the BJP’s expansion in Bengal makes him one of the most influential figures in the government.
Other ministers such as Nisith Pramanik, Ashok Kirtania and Kshudiram Tudu reflect BJP’s broader social engineering strategy.
